When it comes to hassle-free driving down motorways, nothing gets better than riding in a motorbike. Why is that? Well, for one, you can easily get pass traffic jams. Aside from that, having the wind on your face while travelling along the countryside or city areas gives you a sense of freedom that compact cars cannot offer. On top of that, you may be able to write off 40 percent tax of the purchase price of a motorcycle or scooter if you use it for business purposes, according to The Guardian.
So now, if you are thinking of buying a motorcycle, then here is a list of features that you need to inspect.
Chain and sprockets – These essential components can potentially put you in danger. So, pull and push a section and move the bike back and forth to reveal signs of corrosion. Additionally, make sure the teeth on the sprockets are even, indicating that they are not extremely worn off.
Battery – You can use a multi-metre tool to check the terminals and the voltage. If it reads more than 14 volts, then the regulator may be dodgy and can cause the power to fail. Additionally, inspect the lights and indicators by pulling out a fuse and looking for signs of rusting.
Body – Take a good look at the bike’s frame and watch out for dents, kinks, or anything that suggests damage.
Suspension – Sit on the bike and compress the forks. They should offer strong resistance and should rebound all the way to its starting point. Also, turn the handlebar from lock to lock to make sure the unit is free from irregularities.
Smaller parts – Be sure that no bolt or nut or side cover is missing. If there is, contact a motorcycle specialist and ask for a quotation of the replacement parts. After that, consider the total amount you will need to shell out for such purchase.
Once you have found the perfect ride to buy, be sure to purchase safety gear as well.
